DO NOT BUY - loaded with mistakes.

I bought this along with the Wiley study guides. The amount of errors in these books is absolutely shameful,- from simple typos to flat out wrong information. I cannot imagine how they made through any kind of editing process. It is not even worth pointing out specifics because there are so many errors throughout the practice question and study guides.

The bottom line is do not buy this book or any FRM materials from Wiley

Explanations are poor. Missing informations, The book gives solutions without formula..sometines you don't understand calculation.
I don't recommend this book. I think that some questions aren't related to FRM I program (Real Exchange Rate..) because I don't see them in officials books and Kaplan.The Author uses some specifics non official expressions " Bumping factor" ?
I'm very upset !!.
I decided to throw it away this books. lot of mistakes I could'nt be support...

About the Author
James Eatock is an English freelance animator, designer, writer and publisher. He is commonly known on the internet as Busta Toons.

In 1997, James alongside Zadoc Angell created the He-Man and She-Ra Episode Review Website. The website was primarily Zadoc's idea and James had little interest in contributing to it during its initial developmental stages. However, it went on to become one of biggest websites dedicated to the He-Man and She-Ra animated series, attracting many visitors including much of the original creative staff, and earning the pair reputations as He-Man and She-Ra experts. The author lives in London, England, UK.

A Must for Any He-Fan

If you are a He-Man/She-Ra fan you've probably already ordered this book. If you haven't - DO IT. There's no more exhaustive tome that covers everything and brother I mean pretty much everything from these two series. Still reading it, but flipping through it I don't see anything related to Adventures of He-Man, the latter series right before they stopped making episodes for a decade or so. Amazing behind-the scenes artwork, stories about things that wound up on the cutting room floor, and hey...just what DID Orko look like without that hat? Fair warning, do some weight training before it arrives...this sucker is massive!

Great collection of information from every episode in S1 and S2 of He-Man series and She-Ra series.

This book is huge, being close to 1.75" thick, containing 590 pages. It is 12.25" H x 9" W in size. It's a heavy book. The binding seems to be strong and hold, but only time will tell if the binding will not be strong enough for continued viewings. This book has summaries and additional information from each episode from Season 1 and 2 from He-Man, and from Season 1 and 2 from She-Ra. See my pictures. There is a short 4-page section at the end of the book, that gives short summaries of episodes that had been approved, but were never made/produced. There are many sketches in pencil and in color, of characters and environments. The end also has a nice 1-page description of Lou Scheimer. The pictures I uploaded show the variety of types of pages included in this book.

Absolutely a "Must Own"!

Dark Horse has been knocking it out of the park with the series of He-Man and She-Ra companion books.

James Eatock is well known in fandom as an expert on 80's animation and pop culture. He is the publisher of a fantastic fanzine called Cereal Geek and is an authority on He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. I was thrilled when I found out he was authoring this book. He has contributed to the other Dark Horse MOTU books.

This volume is a complete and total recap of every single episode of the two classic animated series. It has character breakdowns, episode over view, reused animation, trivia and more. Stills from the show, production art, script pages and even examples of the cell animation.

If you ARE a fan of the Masters of the Universe and Princess of Power, it's an absolute must. If you WERE a fan and remember the shows from when you were a kid, it's a fantastic glimpse in to your childhood. I promise you'll want to go out and buy the DVDs so you can watch them again.

English for EFL purposes?

Five-minute Activities contains over 130 ideas for the foreign language classroom in its 100 pages. I read this book from cover to cover, and was pleased to be able to make many notes for my future lessons. Some of the activities are actually quite common, and perhaps most teachers would be aware of them, but there were many good ones that I'd never come across, including a few gems. Some are literally five-minute fillers, while others are worthy of spending maybe a whole lesson on. If I had to make a tentative criticism, it'd be that many of the suggestions have students generating language that would never be heard beyond the walls of an EFL classroom. For example, "A pencil is thinner than an elephant." I have mixed feelings about whether this is such a bad thing or not. On the one hand, students can practice structurally correct forms of language and learn whilst having fun. On the other hand, Five-minute Activities doesn't really present them with many opportunities to practise for situations in the real world, which may, of course, not be as fun. Also, I felt that there was a bias for activities that focused on self-disclosure, or competing to be the best in the class. Great, perhaps, for European or South American students of English, but not quite so good for students at my secondary school here in Japan. Overall, I'm pleased to have this book for reference, and I'd recommend it to most of my colleagues, even if some of the suggestions reminded me of what it used to be like as a pupil at a British elementary school.

Extremely good for all levels, a teacher's pet!

I've had a copy of this book since 1995. I keep it in my bag of things for class as it helps to fill in those odd minutes of leftover time.
Here in China I find the activities can be used for much longer than 5 minutes.
I highly recommend it. Money well spent.

So, I was recommended this book, along with a couple dozen others, from my TESOL class. I FINALLY bought it here in Seoul and I'm happy to have the help with the ideas. Teachers have to be creative but it's nice to have the help. The only thing that I might have liked to see (and this is just to spoil me) is have the book broken down into their categories in the front of the book, instead of just the index...and by level. I still highly recommend the book because I don't see myself living without it again.

This book...ah!Again, I had expected a lot ONLY to turn up TRULY disappointed by this book and its *LACK* of a strong narrative and a convincing storyline! A Must Read for Coaches Too

I'm a high school coach and absolutely loved this book. I've read lots of basketball books for players and coaches and this is among the best - succint advice that is easy to understand. The book's format is ideal as the mini chapters make for easy reading and re-reading. I bought copies of this book for all of our returning players who are "into" basketball. I'd recommend this book to anyone who is committed to being a better basketball player or any coach who is committed to being a better coach.

Really did change me life

I read this book the year it came out. I was a sophomore in HS and not very good at basketball. To play with my friends, who lived for bball, I checked this book out of my HS library. I ended up checking it out at least 5 more times! I read it over and over again and applied what I learned on our Thursday and Saturday night church pick-up games. Within a few months I was 5x better, really. I never turned into a great scorer because my love was really passing, defense, and rebounding, and this book covers those so precisely and simply that it always stuck with me. Now that I'm coaching youth league, I went to look for this book hoping it was still in print. Thank God it is, and that it's as great as ever!

Paul Hegstrom is the founder of Life Skills International, a program designed to teach life skills to individuals with unacceptable behaviors and enhance family relationships through nurturing character and maturity. Paul holds a Bachelor of Science degree in pastoral counseling and a Ph.D. in marriage and family therapy. He is a certified cognitive behavioral therapist with the National Board of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists and has been featured by such national media as USA Today, Focus on the Family, The 700 Club, The Montel Williams Show, and The Coral Ridge Hour. A Must Read and Heed Book!

Implement! Do it! Half of my counseling career dealt with violent, angry men, incarcerated for life because they totally lost it... and now regret it. "If only someone had stopped me before I did her in." This statement said over and over even when some went in for counseling sessions yet departed because they did not want the "counsel." That meant dramatic change and they loved their power position so much their "security blanket" was not about to be given up.
Hegstrom's book skillfully presents these insights with all the "on the scene" drama [routinely seen by deputies] as you cannot help but empathize along with all the hurt, pain, and grief experienced by the two parties tied together in these agonizing episodes. Nonetheless, if the solution is only pondered and never applied, they spin their wheels agonizing forever. Read and heed his counsel!
For those couples who will read, I can give them a copy of this book. It is that helpful.

A Must Read for Anyone Dealing With Angry People, Including Yourself!!

Update: I am no longer with the fiance I mentioned in my review. For almost five years now, I have been very happily married to a wonderful man that treats me extremely well. I am truly blessed!

Original review: While in the bookstore at church earlier this year, my fiance at the time held up the book, Angry Men and the Women Who Love Them, and said, "Look at this." My response was, "I want that book. Please buy it for me!" which he did. I had been seeing a pattern of anger and rage in him, and it scared me.

This book absolutely opened my eyes to the root causes of anger, which is a secondary emotion. I grew up with an angry father and so did my fiance, who was incredibly wounded physically, emotionally, and sexually while growing up. What I found so helpful about this book is the discussion of the brain and what happens physiologically when we are physically, emotionally, mentally, and/or sexually wounded before the age of thirteen. The exciting news: It's fixable!!

A month after reading the book I signed up for a Life Skills class and committed to attending once a week for seven months. (The Life Skills organization was started by Paul Hegstrom when he found that typical anger management classes did not work for him and the rage he was dealing with in his own life.) I discovered that I have sought out angry men to date my whole life and did not realize I was doing it. I am a little more than half way through the class now and I can honestly say it is the hardest and yet the most rewarding thing I have ever done in my life. I am learning about myself, working through the pain of my childhood wounds, and seeing incredible hope for my future. Next to becoming a Christian, reading the book and taking the class are the best things I have ever done.

The book gave me the information I needed, and the class is giving me the support and the tools I need to experience healthy relationships with others and most importantly with myself. I find I have a lot more compassion for angry people, but I am also becoming a lot wiser and more discerning about how I interact with them. I highly recommend the book (a very interesting and easy read) and the Life Skills class.

the view of an angry man

An excellent book to help couples having anger issues. I was suprised to learn that I was angry (by definition) and that it is controllable (never thought so). It turned me round, made me face myself, in a similar way to an alcoholic.

It is here reissued with a fresh introduction that surveys the considerable literature in linguistics, psychology and the social sciences that the original extended essay stimulated, and suggests distinct directions for research. The authors describe and account for some remarkable parallelisms in the linguistic construction of utterances with which people express themselves in different languages and cultures. A motive for these parallels is isolated - politeness, broadly defined to include both polite friendliness and polite formality - and a universal model is constructed outlining the abstract principles underlying polite usages. This is based on the detailed study of three unrelated languages and cultures: the Tamil of South India, the Tzeltal spoken by Mayan Indians in Chiapas, Mexico, and the English of the USA and England, supplemented by examples from other cultures. Underneath the apparent diversity of polite behaviour in different societies lie some general pan-human principles of social interaction, and the model of politeness provides a tool for analysing the quality of social relations in any society. This volume will be of special interest to students in linguistic pragmatics, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, anthropology, and the sociology and social psychology of interaction.

His publications include Pragmatics (Cambridge, 1983), Politeness (co-author Cambridge, 1987), Rethinking Linguistic Relativity (co-editor, Cambridge, 1996), Language Acquisition and Conceptual Development (co-editor, Cambridge, 2001) and Presumptive Meaning (2001).

Marjorie Harness Goodwin is Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology at UCLA. She is the author of the now-classic "He-Said, She-Said: Talk as Social Organization among Black Children "(1991). Her primary research interests are on the ethnography of communication, human interaction, conversation analysis, language and gender, workplace ethnography, and children's social organization.

Politeness as the basis for social order

Stemming from a sociological view of language in use, this book shows that politeness strategies are the basis for social order. The authors advocate as well that politeness fuels the interactions any rational individual in all societies performs while using language to communicate and share experiences with each other. Any individual holds a specific face, that is, if the face is positive, the individual allows for a more "softly" interaction. By contrast, if the individual's face is negative, a more formal way of using language is required, in order to minimise any imposition upon the listener. So the authors demonstrate that politeness is far more than a guide to the rules of diplomatic etiquette. The book is, in fact, an invaluable source for lay people as well as linguists who seek to understand politeness as a realisation of power and agreement through language in use.

Brown and Levinson's classic treatment of linguistic politeness is quite possibly the most widely cited work on the subject. Their theory of politeness is based on the notion of "face," that is, the twin desires to be unimpeded and approved, and takes politeness to be speech that addresses one or both of these "face needs."
In this re-issue of the original work, the authors expand their analysis to incorporate and respond to the considerable body of literature generated by their original work.
This book is a must for students of applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, sociology and anthropology.
